By the end of 2005, we had raised over
$80,000 from generous personal and corporate donations. Over $50,000
of these funds related to Sunday in the Park with Lilah (our
walk/fair held in June), which almost tripled our initial
fundraising goal of $18,000. Needless to say, we were overwhelmed by
the generosity of our donors and the financial success of our
inaugural year.
As a result of our arrangements with SickKids, all funds raised go
directly to research projects of our choice without reduction for
administrative costs. Moreover, with direct and indirect support
from Sick Kids, as well as our partnerships with other
organizations, we are able to provide additional value for every
donated dollar (for example, many of the fixed costs are covered by
the hospital, which allows us to fund the additional staffing and
materials expenses).
